About
My name is Melissa, AKA Mimi. I’m been married over 14 years and have two kids we homeschool, and we’re all Paleo. I’m trying to lose excess body fat and regain health. My highest weight was 330, but thanks to Paleo, and now also CrossFit, I’m down 99 pounds so far, with about 60 to go. I am off diabetes, hypertension, and all other medications and supplements, and feel a whole hell of a lot better physically as well as emotionally.
Life is crazy and complicated, and I LOVE food. Finding balance to achieve my goals is never easy, but I’m trying every day. This blog came about so I could share my journey to a more optimal body fat percentage & health profile, and congregate over 12 years of collected knowledge to hopefully help others who suffer and struggle as I have. I peeked earlier, from a link a friend posted on their Facebook page. I can’t get past your 1st post. I’m entranced/enchanted by the cheesecake. Currently doing meat & egg only, so you tempt me!
Thank you so much for adding a link for my blog to your blogroll! Deeply appreciated!!
Hope you feel better. Just found your blog and it felt like finding a new best friend
Come back soon… sorry if that sounds selfish since you are sick!
Maybe it’s just because I’m diabetic, or liable to push the envelope, but I’m surprised how hard it is to stay healthy sometimes. Working on it every day, though. Glad you found, and liked, my blog. I should be back in the swing of things soon!
Hi Mimi, Just wanted to say I LOVE your blog! You tickle me because a lot of the stuff you say are things I would say. I’ve recently started two blogs. Just thought I’d let you know, I’m going to add your link to my pages because I find your posts so funny and interesting. Feel free to stop by!

Thanks, Carrie. I hear you on the cleaning ADD, btw. I have that, too. lol.
It’s good to know I’m not alone. lol
Recently came across your blog, currently catching up on your posts.. I’m so glad I did, and so glad I’m not alone in with this. I appreciate your honesty and willingness to share your difficulties… sometimes I find those sugar-coated, “everything’s so easy” health blogs can be so discouraging and down right frustrating. Thanks again for sharing and telling it how it is.
Wow, thanks! I guess there is a market for just about anything. Thank you so much for the motivation to continue telling my story.
Saw your posts on marksdailyapple…..do you have paleo suggestions for kids lunches??? I need help!
Saw you had a word document somewhere with suggestions….my email is aavinger@gmail.com….
I’m new to your site, congrats on losing 75 pounds and getting your health back in check. I have children also, so I’ll be watching what recipe ideas you come up with.
you are inspirational, can you tell me how it has taken to lose the 100 lb, thank you
I was at my highest weight in 2004. It’s been a roller coaster – health issues, having surgery, two moves cross country, having a baby, disability, losing family members, etc. The key to this success was not going back to 330 every time life knocked me about. I had to learn new coping mechanisms for stress, and ditch the scale for the myriad other ways success is marked on a journey like this. Be the water, not the rock.
thank you, wow, alot happened, yes life does not stop so we can address our goals, shows the strength of courage and love for yourself that you kept on going, knowing it is a journey,
This has just become my life. Doing anything else will result in less good health, more excess body fat, etc. I’ve worked too hard to get to this point to chuck it all & give up, even in tough times. That’s when I need to be good to myself even more.
